Explore the rich seam of Art Song by composers of African heritage, with a focus on stylistic interpretation, diction, poetry and historic context. Particular emphasis will be given to Harry T. Burleigh and women composers; participants should prepare two Art Songs and a Spiritual.

Michael is happy to make repertoire suggestions; click here to download a Word document with further repertoire information on Burleigh, anthologies and other resources. The course will end with an informal recital opportunity.
