“All in a delightful part of the Mendips I hardly knew.”
Directions
By Car
Great Elm is situated off the A362 connecting Frome and Radstock. In the centre of the village the church and village hall are situated on the north side of the road – take the turning on the opposite side of the road next to the fir tree, this is Elm Lane. Come down the steep hill which has a sharp left-hand turn and you will find Jackdaws at the very bottom of the hill on the left, just before the river. There is plenty of free on-site parking. Please note that if you are using a SatNav, it may only bring you to the centre of the village.By Train
A frequent service of mainline express trains operate to Bristol, Bath, Westbury, London Paddington and London Waterloo. For more specific information and times visit National Rail. Taxis are available from Frome Station for the onward journey to Jackdaws or your B&B (3 miles – around £10). You will find more regular train services to and from Westbury (10 miles – around £25 taxi fare) or Bath Spa (15 miles) rather than Frome, especially on Sundays.By Bike
We are situated on National Cycle Network route 24. For more information visit the Sustrans website.Artistic Director
