We are delighted that our Education programme moves from strength to strength each year. It continues to grow and encourage more young people into music making than it ever has before through innovative award winning projects such as OperaPLUS, Year of… and Song Story.
Jack’s Music Club
Music club for 10 – 17 year olds, held 4:30 – 5:30pm after school every Friday during Term time. Led by local musician/actor Kate Adams alongside a varied selection of special guests.
Summer Production
Our annual summer music week at Jackdaws for children aged 10 – 17 years. Work with the Creative Team including an Artist, Musician and Director to create a show from scratch, with the performance at the end of the week. Summer Production week usually takes place at the end of July/start of August.
OperaPLUS
School students perform in a full-length opera alongside our cast of professional singers. Supported with our resources pack, plus workshops with members of the cast. Your pupils can be part of a once in a lifetime unique opportunity with a chance for friends and family to enjoy a spectacular show at the end of the project.
The Year of…
Extraordinary professional ensembles travel to schools across Somerset, giving a performance to your whole school, and working with groups of your students to create a Grand Finale Performance alongside other schools.
Song Story
A project specifically designed for SEND schools which sees them create a musical performance based on the story of a great composer or important works of repertoire. The schools then unite at the end putting all of the pieces of the show together and joining in several massed numbers.
CPD for school staff
We run several sessions a year from our studio in Great Elm offering opportunities to learn about different approaches to developing music in your school. Subscribe to hear about these as they are released termly.
