Intermediate Piano Summer School – Shorter Course
with Mark Tanner
Soak up the Summer School atmosphere on this slightly shorter course (Monday – Wednesday) in the convivial surroundings of Jackdaws! Mark is an experienced tutor and examiner, and his Piano courses attract pianists from far and wide.
This Intermediate course will focus primarily on own-repertoire, but will be punctuated by tutor-led discussions and seminars covering a range of topics of broad appeal. Pianists are free to bring along learned or partly-learned music, whether in the lead up to taking an exam, or simply for pleasure. Each participant will receive at least two masterclass sessions to play and receive advice and support from Mark.
This course will also welcome those who are at an earlier, more foundational stage in their playing, but who would like to challenge themselves to move their playing forward. A highly skilled tutor, Mark will make sure that everyone makes progress no matter their start point, there is much to be gained from moving your learning forwards slowly, at a pace that suits your confidence, knowledge and experience.
This course is all about taking you calmly from where you currently are to the next logical stage.
“I got a great deal out of watching / listening to others play as well as from the experience of playing in front of so many discerning pianists.”
A £70 deposit is required to secure your place on this course. The balance of fees, including accommodation, is due 3 weeks before the course start date.

Our Courses are for adult musicians (except where stated) and take place at Jackdaws in Great Elm, near Frome in Somerset. The Course Fee includes all tuition, meals and refreshments at Jackdaws. Courses take place in the main studio, with Steinway piano, and generally follow a masterclass format. There are several practice rooms here, too.
