Sold Out The Piano Music of Franz Schubert with James Lisney

  •  November 12, 2021 - November 14, 2021
     6:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Jackdaws Piano Course Leader James Lisney
Level: Advanced
Fee: £310

The interpretation of Schubert’s piano music still remains a demanding and specific challenge for musicians of all levels. At the same time, his legacy of song, chamber and orchestral music leaves pianists ample evidence of how to approach his music. This weekend will explore these aspects to enable pianists to gain authority in developing their individual interpretation of sonatas and miscellaneous works by this most fascinating of composers.

James Lisney has gained an international reputation as a committed Schubertian. He has given cycles of the piano works in major centres that include London’s Southbank Centre, the Leipzig Gewandhaus and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.. He has enjoyed Schubert collaborations with distinguished singers such as Dame Emma Kirkby, Lorna Anderson, James Gilchrist and Richard Edgar Wilson; he worked with the broadcaster Richard Baker OBE in presenting evenings devoted to Schubert’s words and music; and he is currently presenting the first Indian cycle of the piano sonatas in Mumbai.
