Violinist Madeleine Mitchell has played in 50 countries as soloist and chamber musician as well as giving master classes and workshops worldwide at all levels. She has been a professor at the Royal College of Music for many years and enjoys tutoring on courses including Dartingon, Benslow and Jackdaws. Her special interests include good body use and general musicianship. Her discography includes the popular Violin Songs (Classic FM CD of the Week), British Treasures, works written for her by well known composers, as well as Messiaen with Joanna MacGregor. Her latest album ‘Violin Muse’ – world premiere recordings of British contemporary violin music, including a concerto with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and violin duos by Judith Weir, has been well received and her next album, of chamber music for Naxos is due for release in March 2019.
Madeleine was awarded the Tagore Gold Medal at the RCM and the prestigious Fulbright/ITT Fellowship to the USA where she studied with Donald Weilerstein, Dorothy DeLay and Sylvia Rosenberg.
