This course is designed to explore the essential and important criteria in the development of a pianist. A familiarity with an intermediate level of piano literature would be a good starting point; the course is aimed at the Intermediate to Advanced level amateur pianist.
Topics to be discussed in this course include form and style analysis, pedalling techniques, fingerings, performance practices, tone productions, advanced techniques, stage presence, different schools of playing and interpretations, and music critiquing.
Alongside playing opportunities for participants, Alton will provide constructive feedback related to the topics disseminated and prioritized in this course.
Participants should prepare 2 – 3 pieces of their own choice.
