Guitar Ensemble

with Eden Stell Guitar Duo

An extended course exploring the full range of the classical guitar as an instrument, helping to develop your style, skills and technique in all areas of your playing.

Mark and Christopher (Eden Stell Guitar Duo) share a passion for the classical guitar, their aim is to support and inspire participants of any age and ability.

The course will focus on ensemble playing with a range of repertoire for guitar orchestra and smaller ensembles. Music will be sent out in advance and arranged with parts to suit all levels. The weekend will also include sight-reading exercises, technical workshops and performance preparation.

We asked our course leaders to answer a few questions about their course and teaching:

  1. Social Music Making-Studying classical  guitar is a notoriously lonely journey with a lot of focus on solo repertoire. This weekend offers the chance to experience the joy of working together and collaborating in a way that offers new artistic possibilities.
  2. Personal Development- The course helps the participants improve their sight reading skills in a warm and friendly environment allowing each player to work at their own pace.
  3. Performance opportunities-The chance to share ideas and  perform pieces to fellow course members in an informal setting with suggestions from Mark and Chris that help make improvements in all areas of performance.
“My teaching style is fast paced fun and always looking at the over all performance. I want the participants to feel the vibe of a professional setting without the pressure.”
“I love working with amateur guitar players because they bring an energy and enthusiasm to their learning. It’s wonderful to see the improvements made in their playing in a short intensive weekend.”

“My hobby outside of music is that I love to cycle with fellow Vida (guitar quartet) member Mark Ashford. The Cotswold hundred was my finest hour…”

Some course feedback:

I can’t think of anything that needs changing!
