Alongside an international performing career, Penelope Roskell is Professor of Piano at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (formerly TCM). She has also taught regular classes for postgraduates at the RAM and frequently teaches at summer schools, including Dartington and Chethams Summer Schools. Her own London Piano Courses attract students from all over the world. From 2000 to 2002 she was Director of the EPTA Piano Pedagogy Course. She has also been a member of the jury for major competitions such as BBC Young Musician of the Year.
She has completed a book, the Art of Piano Fingering, and a DVD on “Yoga for Musicians” and is currently preparing a DVD on “Towards Effortless Piano Playing”. She has a special expertise in piano technique and is the only piano teacher in England to be endorsed by BAPAM to help pianists with tension or injuries.
As a soloist she has performed at major concert halls throughout Britain, including the Barbican Concert Hall, Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room. She has also played in over thirty countries throughout the world.
Penelope is also a committed chamber musician and plays regularly with the Roskell Piano Trio and the Fitzwilliam String Quartet.
