#musicwasthere

As the academic year and our season draw to a close, we wanted to thank all of our participants, colleagues, friends and supporters who have helped deliver our programme of events this year.

In 2024-2025 our award winning projects, courses and performances engaged with over 5,000 people, the majority of whom were children and young people in maintained schools experiencing active music making alongside professional musicians.

We have enjoyed some extraordinary moments and it has really been a fantastic year of music making.

Our Artistic Director, Saffron van Zwanenberg, conducted a little bit of informal research alongside the years’ events. She wanted to know how what we do might impact people in ways we don’t know about longer term.

So, she asked the professional musicians we worked with this year two questions:

  • “What inspired you to want to play an instrument/sing?”
  • “What enabled you to continue doing this?”

We hope you enjoy the word cloud we have created from the answers she received:

Distilled down we think the message that came out of this can be seen clearly as music was there, in different ways for different people and places, but it was there and they were able to access it.

And that simply put, is the mission we abide by “Enabling creative expression for everyone by Bringing Music to Life”.

Wishing a lovely summer of music making to all!

Our projects are only possible because of the amazing support we receive from funders and private individuals.

If you would like to support our programme you can do so in a range of ways, we are very grateful for all of the support we receive.
