Strings & Things Part 1: Beginners

Elizabeth Turnbull
Friday 5 – Sunday 7 June 2015
Course No. 3138
Level: Beginner
Fee: £190
Solo Study Course

Specifically for late starters and ‘born again’ violinists and viola players, all sessions on this Strings & Things: Beginners course are held in an open class format, where issues can be shared and discussed between participants. Nobody will be required to ‘perform’ on their own, though it is usual for confidence to improve over the three days to the extent that participants feel comfortable demonstrating various techniques to the group.

Our objective is for students to construct a practice method for themselves which is economical with time and effective in developing their technique. Although mainly geared towards technical issues, there will be sessions of ensemble playing with all players participating; music will be provided for this. Attention will be given to posture, relaxation and bowing strokes. For the left hand we deal with playing in all keys and an understanding of positions.
