Pianos for All
Friday 29 - Sunday 31 May 2015
Course No. 3137
Are you an amateur pianist who can play Bach’s Inventions and Haydn’s Sonatas? Would you like to play in an ensemble with other pianists, just like string players in a quartet?
“Pianos for All” is a unique piano ensemble course! We play music from the 17th to the 21st centuries – music that was either composed for two or more pianos or has been adapted for a piano group. Pieces vary in difficulty and style but you will be sent two in advance to allow you to prepare before you arrive. We will also sight read less difficult pieces during the weekend.
Participants of all ages are welcome to come and play as a group; as this joyous weekend provides the opportunity for piano playing in combinations of one, two, three and four pianos.
All courses are held at Jackdaws in the village of Great Elm, a small village to the west of Frome in Somerset, roughly 30 minutes drive from Bath. Frome Train station is roughly 2.5 miles from Jackdaws with direct trains from Bristol, Bath, Cardiff and London.
A £50 deposit is required to guarantee your place on a course. The total course fee is inclusive of all meals and tuition except breakfast, which is included in the separate B&B price. Please let us know of any dietary requirements at the time of booking and we will be happy to accommodate. Meals are lovingly prepared on site by our cooks using fresh, local ingredients where possible.
B&B rooms are located in friendly family homes and are either within walking distance or a short drive away (5 – 10 minutes). Breakfast is the only meal served at the accommodation; all other meals are provided on site at Jackdaws.
