Singing Strategy

Twilight Dates- 28th Jan & 4th March School visit date arranged at mutual convenience.
A SINGING STRATEGY FOR THE SOMERSET SCHOOLS
Funded and Delivered by Sound Foundation Somerset
THE STRATEGY Schools are invited to join a Cluster, each consisting of 5-6 schools. Clusters will then be offered two Twilight Teacher Training Sessions, at Jackdaws on Tuesday’s after school 3.30-6.30pm. Each school may send as many teachers/ support staff/ volunteers as they like to these sessions (within reason!). There is a school visit and then a celebratory “Big Sing” at the end.
The work is being delivered by our very popular Songbirds leader Caroline Radcliffe. It should be noted that we have worked hard to make sure that participation impacts as little as possible on the school timetable and will try to be a flexible as possible in delivering this work in a way that suits your schools structure.
Jackdaws Big SingTHE SESSIONS The aim of the first session is to discuss and try out/workshop what can be implemented in school. Following this, Caroline will make a visit to each school to model the work and support one or more teacher putting some of it into practice. This will be arranged at a time to suit and you can choose how to use this session, as either a classroom session with one class or an a assembly for the whole school or part of. The second session will support this work, discuss any issues arising and reinforce good practice.
THE BIG SING Each cluster will have to contribute £500 between them, ie approx £100 per school depending on size. The Big Sing, concert element at the end could happen in a number of ways, which will be discussed when we know which schools are involved and the sort of numbers they might want to bring. It will definitely see the Cluster schools getting together and having an opportunity to sing pieces together and perhaps do some part pieces of their own.
NB- this project will be delivered by Jackdaws in Mendip but invoiced for by Folk South West who are managing the Singing Strategy.
