Year of Bassoon

2020 is Year of Bassoon with the Genovia Bassoon Quartet!

Genovia will visit local schools with Jackdaws in February 2020 to give a whole school performance and a workshop with a smaller group of children. Workshop musicians from all schools then join together for the Grand Finale performance in March at Frome’s Cheese & Grain.

Now into its eighth year, Jackdaws Award-Winning large-scale education project “The Year of…”, sees a different international classical ensemble or musician working with schools in Somerset to spread their passion and enjoyment for music.

The Genovia Bassoon Quartet

The Genovia Quartet is a dynamic young bassoon ensemble formed of four graduates of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. From their first performance together in 2015, this quartet has had a strong musical bond and close friendship which translates into exciting and spirited performances. Their desire to share their fun together with their audiences is obvious and is helping the group establish its reputation both in the UK and abroad.

Outwith the quartet, members of the group have performed and toured with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Ballet Orchestra among others. Keen teachers and educators, they also enjoy coaching young bassoonists as well as larger ensembles. The Genovia Quartet are represented by Live Music Now Scotland and Classical Musicians Scotland.
