Song Story is a unique inclusive and accessible project, designed to introduce all children to the music of the great composers through active participation as performers, instrumentalists and composers. Using the composer’s music as inspiration to a dramatic retelling of their own creation supported by a professional team of a Music Director/Composer, Singer, Instrumentalist and Actor.
In 2020, Song Story takes place over May and June, with space to include up to 5 SEND schools from across Somerset in a theatrical performance of a Russian Tea Party!
Arts Award is a series of qualifications with a flexible framework designed to support and encourage people up to the age of 25 in their personal growth as artists, and inspire them to experience new art forms and engage with the wider arts world.
It’s a great opportunity for students to gain a formal qualification in the arts. Arts Award is accessible because it focuses on each student’s own progression; it is not the overall quality or the absolute level attained by the student which is important, but the improvement and journey through experiencing the arts made by each individual.
As an Arts Award Centre and 2019-20 Trinity Champion Centre, Jackdaws is perfectly equipped to support your students in achieving their Arts Award. In 2019, 55 pupils from five SEND schools all achieved their Discover Arts Award accreditation by taking part in our Song Story project.
