Description:

Jackdaws Tutor James LisneyBeethoven on Beethoven
with James Lisney NEW COURSE

Friday 2 – Sunday 4 October 2020

Level: Advanced
Fee: £240
"Don’t only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets, for it and knowledge can raise us all to the divine." ― Ludwig van Beethoven

James Lisney has achieved international distinction for his devotion to the Viennese repertoire and he has performed and recorded Beethoven cycles in the UK and throughout Europe. Earlier this century, he performed the complete sonatas and variations with violin and violoncello to raise money for the Jackdaws Steinway. During the current season, he will be performing the late works for solo piano in St George’s, Bristol, the Rudolfinum in Prague, in France, Germany and the Netherlands.

In this weekend course at Jackdaws, he will be using the evidence of Beethoven’s scores, his own words and reports of his contemporaries to support, provoke and inspire pianists - and chamber ensembles - of all levels.

Music is the one incorporeal entrance into the higher world of knowledge which comprehends mankind but which mankind cannot comprehend.” ― Ludwig van Beethoven
