Year of Recorder

We had a very busy Spring term with some of our large scale projects for schools taking place.

The Year of Recorder was led by internationally acclaimed recorder players Anna Stegmann and Tabea Debus and saw them visit 12 schools in Mendip and West Somerset working with 850 children as they learned more about the recorder (recorders, there are lots of them!) and making music together.

They also led a magnificent, sold out finale concert at the Cheese and Grain in Frome on March 13th which saw a large local audience being treated to a wonderful musical exploration of the story of Joshua and his magical flute with children playing recorders, trumpets, violins, keyboards, percussion and more alongside our eminent duo!

“I just wanted to say a BIG thank you for the Year of the Recorder experience you gave our school yesterday. The class were so excited about what they had achieved and the interactive assembly was great!”

This project was only possible because of funding from SfS (the music hub for Somerset) and Arts Council England.

All of our events are also supported by our Patrons and we are immensely grateful to them and all of our other funders.
