Jack’s – Welcome Back!

Jack’s – Welcome Back!

Jacks Music Club at Jackdaws

Hi everyone,
It’s my FAVOURITE time of year… September, because as we all know, that’s when Schools go back – YEAH! And that can only mean that Jack’s Music Club is back too.

It’s been an exciting summer here at Jackdaws. Our Summer Production was fantastic – probably our best ever. And the Free Gifted and Talented workshops were a huge success, with lots of children benefiting from the wonderful face to face tuition with world class musicians, absolutely free.

Now that school starts back the fun can begin again. Jack’s starts again next Friday – the spooky Friday 13th September. But don’t worry because all will run as usual despite the spooks; we’ve got awesome tutors and lovely, lovely cake.

The exciting tutors lined up for Jack’s this half term are:
September 13 – Saffron van Zwanenberg; show and tell post summer break
September 20 – Laurie Parnell (Guitar and Mandolin)
September 27 – Kate Luxmoore (Singer/Songwriter/Clarinet)
October 4 – Mark Tanner (Piano)
October 11 – Ralf Dorrell (Jazz double bass)
October 18 – Madeleine Mitchell (Violin)

Wowowow!

Remember that you can find all of this information on the Jackdaws website at any time by going to “Education” and then “Jack’s Music Club”. (Or you can click here!)

We kick off again at the usual time of 4pm, next Friday 13th September with a session from Saffron. She’s going to be introducing you to some theory – watch it transform your playing! I can’t wait…

See you there!
Jack

Summer Production Feedback

Summer Production Feedback

We want to thank Eliza Talman for her great feedback about the Summer Production:

“I really liked the whole week, it was fun exciting and really involving. I was always doing something wether it was singing, going through the play or making the sets and props and all of it was really enjoyable. I loved making the forest seen out of magazines and fabric. The singing was really fun and as it was Jackdaws we were all pulled to the limit of what we could do! The acting was really exciting and we all had to be as good as professionals and as loud as we could be. As we only had a week we did the whole thing (learn the play, make all the art and all the songs) in the time we had and made many new friends by doing the same picture or the same song. I LOVE JACKDAWS!

I will definitely remember the toads that we got to make and the buzz of excitement that we got when we were doing the show.”

Brilliant – thank you Eliza!

Creating the Set

Creating the Set

Another year, another group of young musicians and artists grinning ear to ear about another successful Summer Production. Due to increased popularity, our cast was slightly larger than last year. All together, 21 children and teenagers worked all week to create this year’s wonderful performance.

Get Your Writing Published

If you were one of those 21 children, Jackdaws want to give you the opportunity to share your thoughts with the world by writing a few words about your experience at Jackdaws Summer Production week.

In no more than half a page we want to know:

  • What you did
  • What you enjoyed about Summer Production
  • What did you learn
  • What will you remember most
  • How has it encouraged you to do more?

Email your response, along with your name to music@jackdaws.org or drop it in to us at Great Elm by this Friday (16th August) and Saffron will pick two to get published on www.Jackdaws.org.uk
