Ensemble Course
A foundation course in ensemble playing for adult beginners and inexperienced players of violin, viola, cello and bass. It is perfect for late starters and those who have returned to playing after many years and would like to play in groups and orchestras, but need to develop confidence. Suitable for musicians of Grade 1-4 ability, this is the opportunity to expand your ensemble playing skills in a small supportive group.
Parts are sent out in advance, and repertoire is carefully chosen to be challenging, but not intimidating. The weekend is spent in a rehearsal situation, focusing on the skills required for ensemble playing, with time to address any specific issues arising – intonation, bowing, articulation, tone quality, rhythm and counting.
