Strings and Things Part One – Beginners
Course No. 3094
This weekend is specifically designed for late starters and ‘born again’ violinists and viola players. All sessions are in an open class format where issues can be shared and discussed between participants. Nobody will be required to ‘perform’ on their own, though it is usual for confidence to improve over the three days to the extent that participants feel comfortable demonstrating various techniques to the group. Attention will be given to posture, relaxation and bowing strokes. For the left hand we deal with playing in all keys and an understanding of positions. The object is for students to learn to construct for themselves a practice method which is economical with time and effective in developing their technique. Although mainly geared towards technical issues, there will be sessions of ensemble playing with all players participating; music will be provided for this.
