The Piano Teacher’s Survival Guide
with Anthony Williams
Putting communication, creativity and imagination at the heart of every lesson.
From preparing for the very first lesson to mastering advanced technique and imaginative and confident performance, this inspirational course will help teachers nurture and support students at every level and give them a life-long love of the piano.
Incorporating the strong musical philosophy of communication and imagination which is at the heart of his best selling and highly acclaimed book on Piano Teaching (the Piano Teacher’s Survival Guide, Faber), Anthony will address universal issues and common frustrations faced by all teachers and pianists, illustrating and discussing strategies that will enrich every lesson. Your teaching and playing will never be the same again.
If you wish, please feel free to bring some repertoire that you are currently teaching (or playing), anything from very early learning (complete beginner) pieces to advanced repertoire. We will use this as the basis for discussing fresh new ideas on how to approach the technical challenges, on interpretation, and for broader discussions on the philosophy and art of teaching at all levels.
A £70 deposit is required to secure your place on this course. The balance of fees, including accommodation, is due 3 weeks before the course start date.
You can also buy an Observer Pass for this course. This Observer Pass entitles you to attend on TUESDAY from 11am–1pm as an observer only and costs £10. This can be redeemed against a subsequent course booking. Places are limited. More info and terms and conditions here.
