Classic Piano Music
with James Lisney
An exploration of the performance practices and principles of the works of Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert.
James Lisney says that “Historically informed interpretation is not a means towards creating performances that deserve a place in a museum, but instead allow Classic piano music to speak directly in its own tongue and with all the expressivity that the composer might have desired.
The authority and confidence afforded by an informed reading of reliable texts is available to us all and leads to exciting, unique performances.”
James Lisney has gained an international reputation for his interpretations and recordings of the Classical repertoire and has given cyclical performances of the music of Beethoven and Schubert in major centres such as the London’s Southbank Centre, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Berlin Philharmonie and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. Students of all levels are invited to present music drawn from Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert.
A £50 deposit is required to secure your place on this course. The balance of fees, including accommodation, is due 3 weeks before the course start date.
