Piano Workshop: A New Departure!
with Philip Fowke
Friday 14 September – Sunday 16 September 2018
Course No. 3298
Solo Study Course
An innovative approach for all pianists where repertoire is not required in advance. Following last year’s enthusiastic reception, A New Departure is designed for those who feel that they have never really discovered how to learn a piece with confidence and security; addressing fundamental issues which are so often overlooked in the earlier stages of learning. This course offers an opportunity for everyone to contribute on an equal basis, without nerves, and above all, with pleasure in a non-competitive atmosphere.
Participants are not required to prepare or bring any music, as a selection of very short pieces, or even just a few bars of an elementary piece, will be provided in the first session.
These pieces will be studied and fingered in such a way as to make them ready for performance; there will be a short end of course concert on the Sunday afternoon for those who wish to play, but there is no obligation to take part.
All courses are held at Jackdaws in the village of Great Elm, a small village to the west of Frome in Somerset, approximately 30 minutes drive from Bath. Frome Train station is just 3 miles from Jackdaws with direct trains from Bristol, Bath, Cardiff and London.
A £50 deposit is required to secure your place on this course.
The Course Fee is inclusive of all meals, refreshments and tuition at Jackdaws, except Breakfast which is included in the separate B&B cost.
Accommodation is payable in addition to the Course Fee. B&B rates start at £39 per night (single room, shared bathroom) and from £49 (en suite, subject to availability) booked through Jackdaws. Please let us know your requirements when booking on a course.
B&B rooms are located in friendly family homes and local Guest Houses, and are either within walking distance or a short drive away (5 – 10 minutes).
