Roy Stratford

Roy Stratford studied conducting with Norman Del Mar and piano with David Ward. He also received advice and encouragement from Andrzej Panufnik and Sir Georg Solti. He has worked with many orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Ballet, and the London Philharmonic. He has a wide interest in music education and has worked on the Baylis Programme at English National Opera and with the London Philharmonic’s education programme. He has taught piano at St. Paul’s School since 1991 and in 2003 was appointed Head of Ensemble, responsible for all chamber music in the school. He also teaches piano at Richmond College and runs a youth training orchestra for Richmond Music Trust as well as conducting the Woking Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician he has several regular duo and trio partnerships and has worked as accompanist to musicians such as John Harle, Gervase de Peyer and Suan Milan. He has had arrangements published by Faber Music and original compositions by Oxford University Press
