Ruth Harte

Ruth Harte won a scholarship and many prizes at the Royal Academy of Music where she studied with Vivian Langrish, taking cello as a second instrument. Her first Wigmore Hall recital led to a very active concert career, both solo and broadcast, particularly in chamber music, with performances in the Albert Hall, Purcell Room, all over the British Isles and abroad. She also delights in accompanying Lieder recitals. Recent tours in Europe, Canada, the Far East, Australia and New Zealand have included lecture-recitals, teaching and masterclasses.She is an adjudicator for the British Federation of Music Festivals and has been an examiner for the Associated Board for thirty eight years. She is a Fellow and former professor of the Royal Academy of Music and was awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours in 2007.
