Lisa Nelsen

John Alley  -  Accompanist

Friday, 21st April, starting at 6.30 pm with supper to Sunday, 23rd April  finishing at 4pm with tea.

For those of you who have attended a flute course and for those of you that haven’t but would like a kick start, this would be a good time to come to Jackdaws.  We will be playing a lot, with piano, alone, and with each other.  We will also be doing some technical work just to iron out those niggling finger and embouchure areas.  Of course, true to form, we will be BREATHING!  If you’re nervous of performing, this course is also a good place to practise dealing with your demons.  The atmosphere is relaxed and we are joined this time by John Alley who is a very supportive pianist and excellent coach.

Lisa Nelsen, enjoys an international career as soloist, chamber musician and educator.

Her recitals with piano have taken her throughout the world and she frequently appears at festivals and concert series in Britain. Lisa, who has given world and UK premiers of pieces written for her and her ensembles, began her professional career playing in the Rotterdam Philharmonic and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra. She was appointed specialist flute teacher for Wells Cathedral School in 2001 and is a visiting instructor at the Royal College of Music in London.  She coaches the wind players at the National Youth Chamber Orchestra and the Main Orchestra of the National Children’s Orchestra. While working as a consultant for Boosey and Hawkes for 3 years Lisa gave masterclasses throughout Europe, most recently she gave a recital and masterclass at the Boston Conservatory and Boston University in the United States. Several of her upcoming appearances are made possible with the support of Verne Q. Powell and Sonore Flutes.
