Level: Grade 5 and above |
Most people who play the piano aspire to play Chopin, and why not? No one has written better for the instrument, his melodies and harmonies seem to spring from the keys, a perfect marriage of man and machine. Chopin does not need any anniversary to promote his genius but since it is his 200th in 2010 lets highlight his music anyway. None of his pieces are easy but there are several mazurkas, preludes, waltzes and nocturnes which players of moderate ability can tackle. Try to bring something you have not learnt before such as the late mazurkas, a bolero, the tarantelle or the posthumous polonaises.
