Strings and Things Ensemble Course |
Elizabeth Turnbull |
Friday 7 –Sunday 9 May |
Course No. 2890 |
Grade 5 and above |
This course is specifically designed for amateurs (late starters and ‘born again’) string players who have reached a level of proficiency equivalent to grade 5 or more. The main focus is on ensemble playing and rehearsal techniques.
Parts of repertoire will be sent out in advance of the course for preparation.
All works will be rehearsed in detail with emphasis on: ensemble, intonation, phrasing, dynamics and style. Seating will be rotated so that each player will have the chance to understand the different responsibilities of leading, and playing in a section.
Some sessions will be spent on technical issues and further development of practice techniques dealt with in Strings and Things courses.
Because of the necessity to create a balanced ensemble, acceptance on this course will be selective.
Places are limited to: 6 violins, 3 violas, 2 cellos, 1 double bass.
Please apply as early as possible and acceptance will be notified by 31 March. NB.
This is an ensemble course, in addition to Elizabeth’s very popular Strings and Things course on 5-8 August.
