Do you wish that as an amateur pianist you could be part of a group? Amateur pianists, who would like to make music together are invited to play on one, two, three or four pianos for which the music will be provided. The weekend will follow these guidelines:

  1. A repertoire, which will be sent on application for the course, will be played varying in difficulty and in musical character. Participants are invited to practice a new setting for three pianos.
  2. Participants of all ages are welcome.
  3. There will be no individual tuition, as the weekend is meant for playing together. Not all participants will be playing at the same time; they will also listen to each other.
  4. Listeners and observers are welcome
  5. Standard Grade V and above.

This year, the Monday following Caecilia's weekend is a Bank Holiday; we are extending an invitation to join the course for this day which will be used specifically to rehearse more difficult music; applications are invited for the day. Cost £35 to include coffee, lunch and tea.

Caecilia Andriessen, who speaks English fluently, is a member of a prominent Dutch musical family: her father was the eminent composer and organist Hendrik Andriessen, Professor of Music at Nijmegen University. Both her brothers, Jurriaan and Louis are well-known names.

Caecilia Andriessen studied at the Royal Conservatorium at The Hague, Holland: she then studied in Italy with a scholarship from the Italian Government. She formed a piano-duo with her brother Louis and they performed regularly. She taught at the Institute for Musical Education at Rotterdam and has developed a method of group-teaching (four pupils on four pianos) - she is much sought after as a lecturer on this subject in Holland, Belgium and Germany. Her compositions and arrangements for two, three and four pianos have been published by Uitgerverij Harmonia, Loosdrecht.
