Facets of the Speaking Voice
Although for many the voice is the main method of
communication often the sound and speech to not do justice to the thoughts and feelings to
be expressed. Sometimes there is an awareness of this and a wish to make changes, but an
inability to do so because of the lack of time or opportunity.
This is the opportunity! The opportunity for all professional
voice users including actors, teachers, lecturers, sales people, those in public
relations, telephone users, managers..., if it matters when you speak, this is the course
for you.
A weekend of exploring ways of using the speaking voice in
the safety of a group with an expert to monitor and offer individual advice. The course
will include work on breathing, physicality, articulation, the use of pitch and
projection. Poetry, prose and dramatic text will be used as well as the speaker's own
language when talking formally and informally.
Singers - do not neglect your speaking voices. Regular vocal
care and correct everyday use will support you singing voice. Imaginative interpretation
of text, whether in song or speech, is enhanced by the flexible use of resonance and
pitch.
