Award-Nominated Jackdaws project “The Year of…” returns for the sixth year running, to bring you an hour long concert; the Grand Finale of weeks of workshops with children of all ages at schools across Somerset. The Onyx Brass Quintet will perform alongside over 100 children to showcase their work and these amazing instruments.
The Year of project was started in 2013 by Jackdaws Artistic Director Saffron van Zwanenberg, who wanted to bring exceptional chamber musicians into schools in Somerset to inspire and support children to start, and continue, playing an instrument. In the four previous years, we have worked with nearly 50 schools in hard to reach areas of Somerset and engaged with up to 15,000 children, young people and teachers, introducing them to inspiring celebrated musicians from the orchestral and chamber music worlds.
